The GRG Trust, Coimbatore Tamil Nadu, was established in 1956 by the visionary couple Sri. GR Govindarajulu and Smt. G Chandrakanthi with a motto of ‘empowerment through education’. The first step of setting up a small school, in 1956, has today grown into 10 institutions of educational excellence from primary and secondary schooling to diploma, undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral degree programs in arts, science, commerce, management, engineering and computer science. With a student population of nearly 13,000 and teaching staff of nearly 1,000 with the support of over 500 administrative staff, the GRG institutions continue to serve the society with commitment and dedication
The crown jewel of the Trust is PSGR Krishnammal College for Women (PSGRKCW) established in 1963 in Coimbatore, the textile capital of India. PSGRKCW is one of the leading educational institutions, focusing on women. It provides one of the most comprehensive array of courses and has consistently been rated as one of the one the top colleges in India and in 2022 been ranked number 6, as per National Institute Ranking Framework 2022 (NIRF 2022) released by Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
PSGRKCW offers 35 UG, 14 PG and 13 MPhil/PhD programs in arts, science, commerce, business administration, management, and computer science. All of its eight science departments have been recognized with Star status by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. PSGRKCW, understanding the importance of encouraging Entrepreneurial spirit, had introduced this concept in the course. CIIED (Center for Innovation, Incubation for Entrepreneurship Development) has been set up in its School of Management Studies to assist the students in generating business ideas and the start-up culture. This move has resulted in many students participating and there have been quite a few successful start-ups that have taken birth here.
The GRG Trust seeing the success of CIIED, decided to set up a business Incubator to facilitate the growth and development of potential entrepreneurs, not only from its college, but also other early stage startups in Coimbatore in becoming a successful start-up. Thus the GRG GenNxt Foundation, the state-of-the-art Incubator was established. The center was inaugurated with a small ceremony on March 7, 2024
